Busy weekend

We had a busy weekend, in our front yard we had two HUGE trees that the ice storm a few years ago destroyed so we cut those down. It didn't take very long but as you can see it leaves a nice mess to clean up, so now we have to replant our yard and replace our sidewalk.

Lauren had her back to school dance so her and some of her friends got ready at our house. They are so funny because they never leave Lyndsey out of a picture. I think they had a good time and some of Lauren's younger cousins got to go for the first time this year.

And Miss Lyndsey had a really busy weekend, she went shopping with mommy and her friends Karla and Kolby, she is trying really hard to roll over, she is learning how to use a sippy cup (with mommy's help), she can hold things on her own, and she got to go and see her friends Addi, Kolby, Karson, Emily, and Zach. It is still amazing to me everyday how fast she is growing.

Roots and Wings

We give our children roots and wings....roots to stabilize them and establish who they are and wings to fly and explore life.

TGIF

Aren't they beautiful???

Not too much new news to report today, Lauren started 7th grade and feels like she's pretty special for not being the youngest in school anymore---I'm sure that another year older means more drama for mom. She starts volleyball practice on Monday so that will keep her plenty busy.

We are having some huge trees removed from our yard this weekend so can't wait for that mess but it will bo so nice to have them gone.

First Day

Today was officially my first full day back to work and Lyndsey's first day at daycare, spent the night getting ready-making sure her bag was packed, bath was taken, went to bed early, put her to bed early and she got up at 5:00am and messed up the whole "schedule." The whole morning I was talking to myself in the bathroom mirror about how nice it was going to be to go back to work after 4 1/2 months off and that it was going to be great for Lyndsey to be around someone else besides mom, had myself pretty convinced that it was going to be just fine---answered the door, gave her a kiss and said goodbye, slowly shut the door, breathed a deep breathe and started crying. So much for it was going to be fine....but as it turned out we both survived. I have 28 little rug rats in my class and I definitely won't be bored for a minute. Lyndsey didn't seem to sleep much so she conked out early. I think I am going to be so exhausted at the end of the day that I won't have time to think about missing Lyndsey. All the more time to appreciate her in the evenings.

This picture is of her trying to sit up by herself and shows the huge mosquito bites that cover one side of her face in the 5 minutes we were outside loading up carpet shampooer.

Thoughts for Thursday

As I was doing the dishes this morning I was thinking about all the stuff I had accomplished already at such an early hour---got Lauren up and off to babysit, folded laundry, swept the kitchen floor, fed Lyndsey her oatmeal and applesauce, gave her a bath and then got to dress and play with her. Next week at this time I won't be doing any of this, I will be back at school missing all the sweet smiles Lyndsey has for me. I have been a mom for 13 years now and it wasn't until the last 4 1/2 months that I realized what a great job that is. I always thought I wanted to be a career woman, never could I be a stay at home mom, didn't know how my mom did it all those years---now I totally understand. I now know that there is no greater joy or accomplishment in life than being a mother. I look at this pic of my beautiful girls and know that I am truly blessed--if you are a mom give your kiddos a little extra squeeze today.

Well both girls went to dr yesterday, both are healthy. Lyndsey weighs 15# 3 oz and is 24 3/4" long--dr said," well she is a big girl but very proportionate." Lauren gets to play sports in school this year so she had to have her first physical, she was scared to death--her grandma told her horror stories about what they do and check for. The relieved look on her face when it was over was priceless.

School starts up again next week and I am so not ready. I have had a nice, extended vacation but I am just not ready to leave my baby. I know it will do us both good and she needs to interact with other people but can't shake the feeling I might need a double dose of lexapro that day.

We just back from our summer trip to Texas-had a good time visiting the family and hugging and kissing baby Sara's face off. She is growing up so fast and is so full of personality, can't wait to see her again in October.
